New fire in Annadel State Park forces evacuation

A new fire forced the evacuation of the Rincon Valley and Oakmont communities of Santa Rosa just before 11 p.m. on Monday. “The fire is moving extremely rapidly,” the alert from the Santa Rosa Police Department read. “Get out now. This is a life threatening event. Head to the west.” Within an hour, the entire neighborhood appeared desolate — many people quickly jumped into their cars and got out. City officials described the fire as a “new fire,” later saying it was part of the Tubbs Fire and had moved from Annadel State Park into the community zone. From a report: US researchers measured the black carbon found on 1,300 larks, woodpeckers and sparrows over the past century. They've produced the most complete picture to date of historic air quality over industrial parts of the US. The study also boosts our understanding of historic climate change.
