Nadal thrashes Kyrgios as Garcia beats Halep in China Open singles finals

• Nadal beats Kyrgios 6-2, 6-1 for sixth title of season
• Garcia beats new world No1 Simona Halep 6-4, 7-6 (3)

The world No1 Rafael Nadal demolished Nick Kyrgios to win his sixth title of the season at the China Open. The Spaniard won nine games in a row on his way to a comprehensive 6-2, 6-1 victory to reclaim a title he last won in 2005.

It was another patchy performance from the unpredictable Kyrgios, who battled to fend off five break points in his opening service game.

From a report: US researchers measured the black carbon found on 1,300 larks, woodpeckers and sparrows over the past century.
